Cats Scratch for a Surprising Reason
Instead of getting excited in the same way when they see their owners like dogs do, cats can react in many different ways.
There is no "normal" way for a cat to say hello. Still, some cat owners are curious about a certain thing their cats do.
What exactly does it mean when a cat scratches something when its owner comes home? @purrfectinfluencer, a cat star who uses TikTok, is sharing the answers.
Did any of these reasons for why cats scratch surprise you? We definitely didn't think of it as a way to show excitement.
@theultimate slime, who said, "I thought my cat was mad the whole time," didn't know either. LOL! We can see why you would think that, since cats aren't always the best at showing joy.
As for stretching the paws before playing or interacting, that makes perfect sense.
When cats stretch their legs and paws, it almost looks like they are just waking up from a nap.
A viewer named @glossybabybrow said, "I call it 'prepping the paws,'" which we think is the cutest thing ever! Plus, it's true as well.
There's a lot to learn from this cute video, don't you think? We're sure we weren't the only ones who didn't know that cats' paws have glands that make smells.
Still, it's kind of funny to hear that cats like to scratch to show who owns what. It's very cat-like to do that!
"So my cat thinks the couch is his," @rainbunyy wrote. "That makes sense." LMAO! We think a lot of cat owners will understand, but try not to think about it too much.
