The real Laurel Hester inspired Moore's character and plot (who actually was a detective in New Jersey).

The video focused on how domestic relationships among same-sex couples in the 2000s in the US were still not deemed marriages, leaving one partner with nothing if the other died.

Moore portrays fame-hungry actress Havana Segrand in the drama "Maps to the Stars." Moore, her boyfriend, and a woman they picked up on the way home had a threesome in the movie.
