Sports World Reacts To Colin Kaepernick Announcement
Since September 2022, LaShawn Thompson's family has been searching for closure. Colin Kaepernick is helping them.
Thompson, 35, died in a Fulton County Jail cell. The facility's terrible circumstances killed him, according to his relatives.
In prison, the Thompson family's lawyers say he was "eaten alive" by mosquitoes and bugs.
The Thompson family wasn't satisfied with the medical examiner's first autopsy. Kaepernick will pay for an independent autopsy because of it.
Kaepernick's gesture is often lauded in athletics. "Respect," tweeted one. "Doing great work," commented another.
"We want to thank Colin Kaepernick for helping this family get to the truth," Crump stated, according to CBS.
"And as soon as we get the results of that independent autopsy, we're going to come right back here and let people know what happened to him."
This is familiar to Kaepernick. Last year, his Know Your Rights Camp group helped families receive free supplemental autopsy.
Autopsies cost $20–50,000. Thanks to Kaepernick for supporting the Thompson family.
